Hanbando Offshore Wind

Hanbando Offshore Wind is a 1,125MW bottom-fixed offshore wind development project led by Ocean Winds,
a global offshore wind leader, located approximately 120 km offshore from Incheon in the West Sea and divided into three phases.
This project represents generation capacity equivalent to one nuclear power plant unit.
Upon completion, the project will supply clean electricity to the equivalent of approximately 1 million households annually,
including Yeonsu-gu, Namdong-gu, Seo-gu, Bupyeong-gu, and Ongjin County.

Project Timeline

Hanbando Offshore Wind secured its Electricity Business License in March 2025, establishing a firm foundation for full-scale development. Currently, key project phases including environmental impact assessments, marine traffic safety assessments, along with geophysical and geotechnical surveys being conducted in sequence. With a focus on stable project execution and successful construction, the project targets commercial operation in the 2030s. An expected timeline (subject to technical, permitting and route to market advancements):

  • Site Screening approx. 6 months

    Review of candidate offshore areas, environmental and meteorological assessment

  • Wind Resource Measurement minimum 1 year

    Installation of measurement equipment, wind resource evaluation

  • Electricity Business License 1 year

    Approval by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy

  • Permitting, Surveys & Project Financing 5 years

    Environmental Impact Assessment, Marine Traffic Safety Assessment, financial structuring
