• Hanbando Offshore Wind donated monitoring equipment to support tidal flat biodiversity research and conservation in Incheon.

Hanbando Offshore Wind has donated ecological monitoring equipment to support the “Citizen-Led Incheon Tidal Flat Biodiversity Monitoring” initiative led by the Incheon Federation for Environmental Movement (Incheon KFEM). The donated equipment, consisting of two high-quality binoculars, will be used to survey habitats of endangered migratory birds and marine mammals and to collect ecological data.

Incheon’s tidal flats are recognized as a vital blue carbon ecosystem, capable of storing more carbon than forests, and serve as critical habitats and migratory routes for endangered species such as the Black-faced Spoonbill, Finless Porpoise, and Spotted Seal. However, due to insufficient scientific ecological data, there is an urgent need for well-informed and structured habitat conservation policies.

With the newly donated equipment, KFEM plans to conduct endangered species monitoring, habitat data collection, and citizen-driven ecological education and experiential programs across key wetlands such as Sorae and Gojan tidal flats and the Namdong Reservoir.

HBOW recognizes tidal flats as an essential natural asset for achieving carbon neutrality and preserving marine biodiversity. Guided by a strong commitment to coexistence and collaboration with local communities, HBOW will be continuously dedicated to conserving a balanced tidal flat and marine ecosystem.
